Duct Cleaning- It's Important!

7/8/2022 (Permalink)

Air Duct

Many people neglect their air ducts and put them on the back burner- but you shouldn't! Our technicians have the proper training and tools to service your air ducts and prevent any malfunctioning that may occur without proper treatment.

The whole cleaning process can be divided into 3 steps: pre-inspection, duct cleaning, a final walk-through inspection.

The basic cleaning tools are brushes, vacuums and other agitation devices. In most cases, we will also fog them to ensure they are 100% clean. While you can clean the air vents on your own, using a simple brush and home vacuum, it is not recommended. Doing it wrong will cause the pollutants and debris to flow in to your home from the air ducts, rather than actually extracting it with professional methods.

Carpet Cleaning- The Importance of Pre-Existing Damage

Stained carpet

As a cleaning service, we receive a lot of calls with carpet cleaning requests from residential customers, and A LOT of commercial customers- most notably- apartment communities. This is primarily due to the high turnover rate these communities face. Becuase of that, there is a vast amount of wear and tear on their carpeting. Although we are happy to serve them, one very important step in carpet cleaning is to determine if there are any pre-exisiting conditions. You must identify preexisting damages to carpets for two reasons. First, customers could blame you for causing the damages; and second, aggressive cleaning methods could cause more damage to the carpet. Here are the top conditions we look out for:

  • A poorly stretched carpet.
  • Intense wear and matting especially in traffic areas
  • Heavily stained and soiled carpets
  • Physical damage
  • Fading

Local Dunkin' Donuts Water Damage

7/5/2022 (Permalink)

This shows the major damage that was caused by a sewage leak.

This water loss was at none other than our favorite local Dunkin' Donuts!

You don't always expect to get a call from your favorite donut and coffee go-to, at least not for this type of situation! We sent a crew out right away and got to work! First came first- extract all that yucky water out of there! Next was a very thorough decontamination of the area. When our techs decontaminate, it is a thorough and special service! It includes a hard surface steam clean, followed by HEPA vacuuming, then followed with antimicrobial on all affected surfaces.

Thankfully we were able to help them out and get them up and running again with smiling faces! No one wants to miss their morning coffee!

Residential Deep Clean

This shows the kitchen in this home that was in need of a major deep clean.

Deep cleaning is just one of the many services we provide on our commercial cleaning division. This clean came from a newly purchased home, that needed a lot of tlc.

This was a beautiful restored Victorian home that was just asking to be made beautiful again. We started with a thorough cleaning of the walls, ceiling, vacuuming, mopping, and a good dry clean (dusting, sweeping). Now for the kitchen- as glorious as it was- it needed A LOT of loving from years of sitting unattended. This meant a thorough cleaning of all appliances, which is not always an easy task!

Lastly, we cleaned the attic in this home. Although the scope was similar to the downstairs, aside from the extra cobwebs!

All in all, we were able to make this home look brand new!

A Message From Our CMO, Mike Stahl

2/17/2022 (Permalink)

Mike is the Chief Marketing Officer with responsibilities for Marketing Services, National Accounts, Franchise Expansion, and Customer Care Center.

Did you know that 89% of consumers said they are hesitant about returning to brick-and-mortar establishments according to a recent survey? And of those, 40% say that cleanliness is a major factor for concern?

We all know they aren't talking about dirt. They are talking about invisible germs and pathogens that we can't see. They are talking about coronavirus, and patrons and employees want to feel safe and secure when America does reopen for business.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed what it means to be cleaned. I am thrilled that we are part of the solution to get the country back, whether that is back to work, back to business, back to school, or back to community.

I am excited to tell everyone about a new program we are rolling out to take our COVID-related proactive cleaning work to a whole new level, or a "higher standard of cleaning."

The Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned program is a cleaning and disinfecting program that will lend our community spaces as they reopen their doors. This program will give patrons and employees across the country peace of mind that the space has been protected by SERVPRO, the authority on what it means to be clean.

The ventilation system is often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality, but you can help change that! Inspecting the ductwork in your home should be a high priority. In most cases, the HVAC system has been operating for some time without much attention. Dirty ducts can circulate odors, contaminants such as mold, and irritating dust throughout your home.

A routine part of SERVPRO of Southern Lancaster County's service is inspecting the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning unit (HVAC). Keeping the HVAC and duct work clean can potentially extend the life-span of the equipment by allowing it to operate at peak condition, which may help save you money. Duct cleaning may not always be necessary. The professionals at SERVPRO of Southern Lancaster County will inspect your HVAC system and duct will and make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns. This inspection can help save you money and provide peace of mind on the health of your HVAC system and ductwork.

In some circumstances, such as after a fire, smoke, or suspected mold growth, duct cleaning becomes an essential part of the cleanup process. In these cases, the professionals at SERVPRO of Southern Lancaster County can often restore the HVAC system and duct work to pre-damage condition.

If you have a fuel-burning furnace, stove, or fireplace, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends it be inspected for proper functioning and be services before each heating season to protect against carbon monoxide poisoning.

The SERVPRO duct cleaning system is proven and cost-efficient. Unlike the majority of duct cleaning services, the professionals at SERVPRO of Southern Lancaster County use a portable ventilation and ait duct cleaning system to examine ductwork and make a clean sweep, removing years of dust and grime.
